AccessibleEU has published its accessibility indicator reports for 2025. By monitoring these indicators, the reports assess how Member States implement accessibility legislation and standards. The report for Slovenia covers the built environment, information and communication technologies, transport, and public policies.
The report shows that Slovenia has a relatively comprehensive legislative framework for ensuring accessibility, with the Equalisation of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities Act (ZIMI) playing an important role in the area of the built environment. However, it also indicates that legislation and standards alone do not necessarily ensure the actual accessibility of buildings, services and information in practice.
The full 2025 report for Slovenia is available here, while reports for other European countries are available on the AccessibleEU website.
Among the challenges identified in the special report by the Advocate of the Principle of Equality, Inaccessibility of Public-Use Buildings for Persons with Disabilities, is the provision of appropriate information, professional advice and support in planning and implementing the necessary adaptations.
This is precisely one of the areas addressed by the National Accessibility Information and Advisory Point.
