Free access to standards on universal design

The Rules on Universal Construction and Use of Buildings (https://pisrs.si/pregledPredpisa?id=PRAV12693), in Article 4, prescribe the standards used in the design, construction, use and maintenance of buildings accessible to all people.

These include:

• SIST 1186: Tactile Walking Surface Indicators (TWSIs) for Persons with Visual Impairments (https://ecommerce.sist.si/catalog/standards/sist/757fe834-a9bd-46f1-999b-e6bc93dd7af3/sist-1186-2025)
• SIST EN 60118-4: Electroacoustics - Hearing aids - Part 4: Induction loop systems for hearing aid purposes - System performance requirements (https://ecommerce.sist.si/catalog/standards/sist/15f88dfc-ac91-4054-8745-03c28a6986f9/sist-en-60118-4-2015)

The standards are available through the online store of the Slovenian Institute for Standardization and are generally paid; however, from 2025 the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport allocates budget funding to provide access to all listed standards, together with others that are exclusively referenced in Slovenian legislation. All Slovenian economic operators are eligible.

The standards are obtained free of charge through the normal purchase procedure. Select payment by bank transfer and then send the order number (pro-forma invoice) and written confirmation of your status as an economic operator to prodaja@sist.si. After processing, the document becomes accessible through the user account in the web store, and one printed copy of the original is also permitted.
