The National Action on the Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities project, led by the National Council of Disability Organizations of Slovenia (NSIOS) and partnered with the Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia. The project aims to integrate persons with different forms of disabilities into society and raise public awareness of diversity.  The Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia plays a key role in the project in raising awareness about the universal accessibility of public buildings. Its methodology, based on current legislation and more than a decade of experience, assesses the accessibility of buildings and raises awareness of the importance of universal accessibility among owners, building managers, and tenants. The project will assess 100 buildings in public use that are benefit providers for EU Disability card holders. Providers offer benefits in the fields of culture, sport, tourism, trade, and others.   All accessibility assessments are publicly available on the dostopnost.si website and on the EU Disability card website invalidska-kartica.si. Each assessment carried out by the Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia also includes a short accessibility information note aimed at disabled visitors and users of the providers' services.

The project is co-financed by the EU.
